Ms Mamta Banerjee, our Hon'ble Railway Minister, announced on joining the ministry that She'll come up with a scheme that will enable people having a monthly income below Rs. 500/- to travel through trains with a daily pass costing just Rs.20/- for a month !
-- Seems a good start to attract our "Aam janta".
This seems to be a first one from newly elected UPA government. The offer from Railway Ministry seems good only from eyes of Ministers.... as they can start counting their "janta k liye kiye gaye kaam" (works done for the common man). I still cannot believe if there are any takers for such a scheme.
In our country, as minimum wage level has been raised to Rs. 80/- and with schemes like "Sampoorna Swarojgar Yojna (aka... Employment for all schemes)" which claims to offer employment for all adults for a minimum of 100 days (I'm sorry if I' wrong on these figures... but, this is what I know...).
My simple logic is based on calculations which are backed by such assumptions that these schemes do run and are successful, as seen in the claims by political parties (or the previous government). As my logic says, all people/adults may get a minimum 100 days employment and that too at the minimum wage rate of Rs. 80/-; with this one gets a minimum wage of Rs. 8000/- per annum.... this is very low in terms if we see how this person will sustain living in this costly world. But, his average earning (Rs. 8000 divided by 12 = Rs. 667) comes out to be more than Rs. 500/- per month... Poor chap ! he still is unable to get access to Ms Mamta's so called travelling pass for poors.
But, thats not the true story; there are still people who will qualify such a status and will be enjoying the travelling pass. What number ? who are they ? what they do ?... if we get these answers, they will merely go out of the reach from such "pass".
The actual benefits will either be taken by those who fool the authorities or those who have nothing to do... I still am unable to imagine of a person who works for just 500/- a month and still travels by train to his/her work area.
Though there may be a line for those who will enjoy its benefits.... ranging from daily workers (i doubt!)... maids (still doubt)... beggers(serious doubt... do they travel?)...vendors(big doubt!)...
All such offers and schemes put by ministries tend to be for the common man... with uncommon abilities... because, every common man is able to earn his/her living by simple means... even with a contribution to the government taxes... and builds up this India... our India !
But, our politicians run by another logic. Logic of the "Common Man" which sticks to luring schemes meant for none ! and this, which ones seem to be a Melodrama for India's future has become a "Mail-O-Drama"! now.... (Mail means 'dirt' in hindi).
